Ellen Huenink, APRN joined Manatee Gynecology in February of 2019. She received an undergraduate degree at the University of Florida and worked in HIV research prior to her nursing career. Ellen obtained her Bachelors of Science in Nursing from the University of South Florida, and went on to receive a Doctorate of Nursing Practice in the Family Nurse Practitioner program at Florida State University. Ellen is a contributing author for multiple articles from her work in HIV research, and her doctoral research on stress and coping mechanisms has also been published.
Ellen is certified as a Family Nurse Practitioner, and has been practicing in the OB/GYN field since 2016, with specialized training in women's health. She provides a full range of gynecology care to women of all ages and her expertise includes contraception, nutrition, women's mental health, and adolescent/young adult medicine. In addition to seeing patients at Manatee Gynecology, Ellen is an adjunct professor in the Family Nurse Practitioner Program at Florida State University. She is an active member of the local Advance Practice Nurses Council and strives to improve nurse practitioner issues at the community and state level. In her free time, Ellen enjoys traveling and spending time with her husband, son, and Labrador retriever.
